How to Apply for IES

Offline Application:

The UPSC have developed an application form common for all their examination which will be processed on computerised machines. This application form along with an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgement card and an envelope for sending the application is obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees twenty only). Form should be purchased from the designated Post Offices only. Photocopy of form will not be accepted.
A candidate seeking admission to Examination must pay to the Commission a fee of Rs. 100.00 (Rupees One hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment Fee stamp. Central Recruitment Fee Stamp of the requisite denomination. Central Recruitment Fee Stamp (NOT postage stamps) must be obtained from the post office and affixed on the application form in the space provided therein. The stamp may be got cancelled from the issuing Post Office with the date stamp of the post office in such a manner that the impression of the cancellation mark partially overflows on the application form itself but within the space provided on the form. The impression of the cancellation mark should be clear and distinct to facilitate the identification of date and the Post Office of issue.
Candidates residing abroad should deposit the prescribed fee in the office of India’s High Commissioner, Ambassador or representative abroad as the case may be for credit to account head "051-Public Service Commission-Examination Fees" and attach the receipt with the application.

ALL FEMALES CANDIDATES AND CANDIDATES BELONGING TO SCHEDULED CASTE/SCHEDULED TRIBE/PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED CATEGORIES ARE EXEMPTED FROM PAYMENT OF FEE. NO FEE EXEMPTION IS, HOWEVER, AVAILABLE TO OBC CANDIDATES AND THEY ARE REQUIRED TO PAY THE PRESCRIBED FEE IN FULL. 

The duly filled in application form and the acknowledgement card(with postage stamp of Rs6/-) should then be mailed in the special envelope supplied with the Information Brochure. The candidate should also write the name of Examination viz. " Engineering Services Examination, 2011" on the envelope before despatching it to "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, New Delhi-110069".

How to Apply for IES - Online Application:


In addition to the existing offline system of applying through a Common Application Form for the Examinations conducted by the Commission, the candidates for Engineering Services Examination, 2010 can also apply Online using the link http://www.upsconline.nic.in/ Salient features of the system of On Line Application Form are given here under :

- Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website.

- Candidates will be required to complete the On-line application form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions available in the above mentioned site through drop down menus.

- The candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs. 50/- [excepting Female ,SC, ST & PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee] either by remitting the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using any Visa/Master Credit/ Debit Card.

- Before starting filling up of on-line application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly scanned in the .png format in such a manner that each file size should not exceed 40KB each.
